Diane was born in Binghamton, New York to Glenn and Alene Weldy on March 30, 1944. On July 18, 1964 Diane married the love of her life, Tom Harder, and they had two sons, Robert and Steven. Diane worked as a dental hygienist for many years and was very active in the lives of her two sons, supporting them in their many activities.
In 2013 Diane and Tom moved to Selma, North Carolina. While living in Selma, Diane could often be found participating in activities at First Presbyterian Church in Smithfield, such as Joy Connection and making prayer shawls. She also loved playing Scrabble and card games with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life and she loved attending any event in which they were participating.
Diane is survived by sons Robert and Steven (Amy), grandchildren Molly, Brianna (Lucas Carbray), Emily, and Alexander, sister Debi Cotten (Eddie), nieces and nephews, and her beloved rescue dog, Abel. She was predeceased by her parents, Glenn and Alene Weldy, her beloved husband Tom, and daughter-in-law Maryanne.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, May 22, 2026 with the funeral immediately following at Wm R. Chase and Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY. A graveside service will follow at Chenango Valley cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Broome County Dog Shelter or Broome County Humane Society.
