Donald was a graduate of Windsor High School and went on to proudly serve as a United States Navy Veteran. He later retired from Crowley Foods, closing a long chapter of steady work and dedication.
Above all, Donald cherished time with his family. For many years, he camped at the family campground, Rolling Acres, where he became known as the “chicken man” for always stepping in to help cook the chicken for the BBQs—an enduring role that brought people together and left its own warm tradition behind.
Donald also found enjoyment in the things that made everyday life feel rich and familiar: collecting cars and trucks, especially Hess Trucks; savoring a good Scotch; and spending time riding around in his golf cart and on his tractor. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Duell; his daughters, Debbie Bixby, Darlene Greene (Bob), and Michelle Sturdevant (Bob); his grandchildren, Scott Bixby (Heather), Tiffany Bixby, Deanna Miller (Zach), Nik Tessitore (Amanda), and Alexis Duell; his great grandchildren, Logan Bixby, Leena & Adalyn Butler (and their mom Courtney), Zoeii & Zachary Miller and Cece, Easton & Levi Tessitore; great grand dogs Stella & Pickles; his sister, Sandy Hagerman; his brother, John Duell; his sisters, Marilyn Hagerman and Kathy Ellsworth; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Derek Butler; his parents Franklin & Carilee Duell: his brother, Richie Duell; and his sister, Joyce Kundrata.
A Celebration of Donald's Life will be announced at a later date.
