Dorothy Washington Felton

Dorothy Washington Felton, passed away into the Arms of the Lord on Thursday, January 19, 2023. She was born to the late Jim Gause & Susie Reaves Gause on April 27, 1936. She was predeceased by her parents: Jim & Susie Gause; her siblings: sister, Roberta (JC) McCray, brothers: John Ray Gause, Johnnie U.T. Gause, James Gause and Jessie Gause; and her first husband, Frank E. Washington.

She is survived by her current husband, George “Jay” Felton, III; her Bonus Children: Frank Ernest Washington, Jr., Apostle Jacqueline Washington, Virginia (Elijah) Andrews, Mary Dean (Bernard) Gallon, George Felton, IV, Trina (Daryl) Drayton, Todd (Amy) Felton, Deric Fel-ton, Melissa (Michael) Burish, Jenica Easterling; God-daughters: San-dra Benton-Williamson, Sabrina Amlett; and a host of relatives and friends. Special recognition to Rev. James and Mrs. Viola Washing-ton.

Dorothy is a graduate of Finklea High School in Loris, SC, where she was voted as the happiest and most talkative student, according to her yearbook.

For many years she provided Home Convalescent Care, associated with the Broome County Social Services Department. Ms. Sue was one of her long term residents who was treated like a family member.

Along Mother Dorothy’s walk with the Lord, she worshipped with Mt. Nebo Church of God in Christ, which later became Mt. Sinai Church of God in Christ where she was a proud member of the Mother’s Board and she served on the Hospitality Committee. She was known for al-ways being well dressed and was famous for her delicious pound cake. Her favorite song was “Just Another Day That The Lord Has Kept Me".
