I met Dewey, Cindy, and their family 45 years ago, never realizing the profound and lasting impact they would have on my life in the years that followed. Dewey not only welcomed me into the family, but he also played a pivotal role in shaping my early adulthood.

He helped me land my very first job at the Great American grocery store on Upper Front Street, a step that set me on the path to independence. He even lent me the money to buy my first 12-gauge shotgun so I could join him and his friends on hunting trips—an experience that meant the world to me.

Dewey always made a place for me on the many softball teams he managed and played for, and he never hesitated to let me borrow his car when I had no other way to get around. He didn’t say much, but he led by example—and I was always watching and learning.

He struck a perfect balance: never too soft, never too stern. But he had a certain look, one that told you when it was time to straighten up. He was a great man—steadfast, generous, and quietly wise.

I’m forever grateful for everything he did for me. Dewey and Cindy were guiding lights to a young man who needed just that, exactly when he needed it most.

This is very sad. I hired Duane as a Team Leader at Target and he was a great employee and person. Always with peppermints in his pocket. Thoughts and prayers to his wife and extended family.

My deepest condolences to Cindy and her family on the loss of Dewey.  I have known Cindy since we were 12 years old and know that when Dewey came into her life that she had found her partner for life.  May God be with her through this grief.

I met Dewey and Cindy in 2010/2011 while working at Tioga Downs. I moved away in 2019, I still today consider them family! He will be truly missed!!  Prayers of condolences to Cindy and family!💕love you!

I first met Cindy and Dewey at Tioga Downs Horse  Racing. From there we instantly became friends and enjoyed many wonderful times at Tioga, many fun rounds of golf and great dinners and playing Rumikube.  Dewey will be greatly missed and I will always be there for Cindy!!  ❤️😥

Will miss Dewey hunting here at hunting season. Will miss making him banana bread and cinnamon rolls.  He was a very nice man and will be missed by everyone here at Gerst Farm.

I first met Dewey at the Great American! What a great place that was! Then from seeing him in Target to bowling with you guys at Brandywine! We had many great times and a lot of laughs!
