Dwight “Ike” Bronson died peacefully on October 5, 2026. He passed away in the loving arms of his soulmate and wife of 43 years, Virginia “Ginger” Bronson. His memory will be carried by Ginger; his children Ben, Jeff, Steve, and Jessica; his grandchildren Amber, Ryan, Alex, Erik, Luke, Joshua, Henry, Aubrey, and James; his great-grandson Lincoln; his brothers John and Dean; several nieces, nephews, and relatives in-law; and a lifetime’s worth of friends. He is now reunited with his parents Gerald and Eleanor Bronson and his brothers David and Lee.
Ike grew up in Port Dickinson and spent much of his childhood working the family farm. He carried his strong work ethic into adulthood, eventually realizing his dream of owning his own business. Ike was the proud owner of My Uncle’s Place for over 20 years. But he always made time for his family, coaching his children’s youth sports teams and leading their scout troops.
After retiring, he spent his remaining years enjoying the simple pleasures of life – western novels, movies, and tv shows; old comedy shows like MASH and Andy Griffith; the music of Simon and Garfunkel and Grand Funk Railroad; solving newspaper puzzles, traveling on cruises; and of course, the company of his family. Ike’s kindness, laughter, and spirit were as large and renowned as his appetite. He will be sorely missed.
Calling hours will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 12, 2026 at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, followed by a service at 1:00 PM.
