Elizabeth A. Difenderfer

Elizabeth “Betty” A. Difenderfer, 98, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Dr. Harry H. Difenderfer, Jr.; her daughter, Irene Difenderfer Aylward; and her grandsons, Jason, and John Blair Difenderfer.

Survivors include her children, John (Charmaine) Difenderfer, Barbara Difenderfer, and Harry J. Difenderfer; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great- granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty enjoyed spending time on her porch, where she shared many daily visits with her friends. Her other favorite place was Ponce Inlet, Florida where she spent winters and developed many wonderful friendships. She was an avid reader and spoiler of her grandchildren, who always kept her busy and vibrant. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am on Friday, September 11, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1031 Chenango St. Binghamton with Fr. Timothy Taugher officiating. Burial will follow at Chenango Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory may be made to Fenton Free Library, 1062 Chenango St. Binghamton, NY 13901 or to Catherine’s Cupboard, 1031 Chenango St. Binghamton, NY 13901.
