

Eugene (Gene Jinx) Gioia, 85, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the home of his daughter. He was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Anna Gioia; wife, Mary Gioia; son, Anthony Gioia; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Nicki Gioia. He is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Doreen and Ken Armitage, Binghamton; grandson, Vincent Armitage, Binghamton; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Joyce Gioia, Hillcrest; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was an Army veteran of WW II and the owner of Gene’s Mobil Gas Station. He was also a delivery person for DiLascia’s Bakery and along with his wife owned Mary’s Variety Store on Conklin Avenue and a member of the “Italian Lunch Bunch”.
Funeral and Committal Services will be conducted Friday, February 1, 2013 at 9:15 AM at the James V. DeMarco & Son funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson and continue at the Church of Sts. John and Andrew at 10:00 AM where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours will be at the DeMarco & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 4 – 7 PM.
