

H. Blair Atwood, Chenango Bridge: On August 23, 2015, after many wonderful years, the Lord has finally called Blair to his Heavenly Home. Blair was born September 20, 1927 in Binghamton, NY to two wonderful parents, Howard and Ella Atwood, who were dearly loved. He grew up in Chenango Bridge, NY where he became interested in 4-H, and became President of the 4-H Broome County Council. He was Past President of the Society of Plastic Engineers, Past President of the Nimmonsburg Rotary Club, past member of the Binghamton Boating Club of Seneca Lake, a member of the Sand Pond Hunting Club and served on the Board of Education for the Chenango Forks School District. He graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1945 and he was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, serving aboard the US Hector AR-7 and USS Comstock. Upon his discharge, he learned the Tool and Die trade and later started with his father, Atwood Tool & Die in 1963. His sons continue to operate the business to this day. Music was a big part of his life and he sang in many church choirs. He was an ardent trout fisherman and later in life spent many hours perch fishing at his cottage on Bradley Brook Reservoir. Many fish fries were served to his employees. He loved playing golf and bowling while he was a member of the Binghamton Mens' Club and the Alden Pines Golf Club of Pine Island, Florida. He is survived by his children whom he loved with all of his heart, including; Cynthia and Joe Lenahan of Grand Junction, CO, David and Christine Atwood of Whitney Point, NY, Brent and Sandy Atwood of Triangle, NY and Laurie and Matt Wightman of Windsor, NY. Also surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Shirley Atwood, Endwell, NY, his grandchildren; Heather Barker, Christopher Pietz, Patrick Lenahan (Jessica), Chelsie Wellschlager (Kyle), David, Shawn (fiancée Tiffany Mosley) and Sarah Atwood (Tony Vite), Brent Atwood (Rachel), Jackie Walsh (Sean), Jenny Garritano (Joe), Bethany Atwood (fiancé Ryan Thorp), and Matthew Wightman. He was predeceased by his grandson, Jeremy Atwood in 2004 and whom he hopes to meet in Heaven. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, as well as his cousins, all of whom he greatly cherished. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 26 at the Wm. R. Chase Funeral Home in Port Dickinson from 3-6 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Port Crane on Thursday, August 27 at 10 am with Pastor Daniel Baker officiating.
