Endicott- John “Jack” Robert Holland Jr. 84, of Endicott passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013 peacefully in his Emeritus residence in Gang Mills, NY in the early morning. Jack was born in Gregg, NY on October 2, 1928; he was the second oldest of four children born to John and Thelma Holland.
After graduating from Binghamton North High School he joined the US Air Force where he served as a tail gunner on a B-29 during the Korean Conflict. Post service Jack worked for GE and IBM. While working at IBM he attend college earning a degree in Industrial Engineering. After retiring from IBM he volunteered tutoring students in English and Math at Homer Brink Elementary School.
He is survived by his four children John Robert Holland III (Mary) of Virginia, Jill Morris (Kevin) of New York, Jeff (Lenie) of California, and Janine Holland of New York, nine grandchildren, Ian, Jessica, Nitasha, Jennifer, Elizabeth, John IV, Vanessa, Ashley, and Corinne two great granddaughters, Malayna, Addison, and two sisters, Regina Terry of NY and Dorothy Stevens of Texas. He was predeceased by his wife of forty-one years, Jacqueline Alise Holland, two brothers, Edwin and Thomas Holland and two sisters, Roberta Hotchkiss and Anne Zembek.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Jack’s life at James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St, Port Dickinson, NY Thursday, August 22, 2013, viewing from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm with services to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
