

Jon Craig Lawson, 56, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, originally from Chenango Bridge, died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at his home. He is survived by two sisters, Judy A. Ferrante of Lake Mary, FL and Jean Lawson Peters of Pinehurst, NC; brother and sister-in-law James A. and Barri W. Lawson of Melbourne, FL; and nieces and nephews Christopher (Kim) Ferrante, Nicolle (Bruce) Napolitano, Michael (Teash) Lawson, J. Matthew Lawson, Jason (Kylene) Peters, Laura Peters and Kevin Peters. He is also survived by nine great-nieces and nephews, many cousins and his beloved canine companions Woody and Bear. He was pre-deceased by his parents F. H. (Rudy) and Yvonne M. Lawson, and his brother-in-law, Dominic R. (Mico) Ferrante. Jon was born April 7, 1956 in Binghamton, NY where he graduated from Chenango Valley High School. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, then started his career in the travel industry beginning with Braniff International Airways. He owned his own travel agency in Kansas City for ten years before moving on to corporate and online travel management with BCD Travel and TRX, Inc. in Atlanta. He recently relocated to Fort Lauderdale. Jon was involved in community and political activism about which he was very passionate, and was a devoted volunteer for Hospice. Entombment will be private at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. All arrangements are under the direction of Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, Binghamton, NY. A Memorial Service is planned in Atlanta at a date to be determined. Donations may be made in Jon's name to the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road, NW, Atlanta, GA 30318.
