On Father’s Day, June 17th 2012, Joseph Paul Ranucci died peacefully in his sleep. He was lifted by angels to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was reunited with his “beautiful bride,” Assunta, his son, Paul, and mother, Mary. He is survived by his daughters, Christine and Mari, his father, Paul, and siblings; Edward (Cathy), Suzanne (Charlie), Janice, Sharon (Brian), seven precious grandchildren; Jenna, Marcus, Chase, Kayla, Macey, Joey, Bella, and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Joseph was a born leader and an endlessly devoted family man. One of Joe’s most redeeming qualities was his ability to lead with passion and integrity. This gift guided him to his position as Lieutenant of the Endicott Fire Department and former Union President I.A.F.F 1280. In his own words, he was “a mover and a shaker.” Joe was devoted to his ‘circle’ of family and friends. When he walked into a room, he was able to strike up a conversation with anyone. His easy conversations drew many friends and companions into his world of love and wisdom. His love of music echoed the stories of his life, as he passionately performed them over the years. Joe enjoyed gardening, golf, cooking and vacationing with friends and family. Joe had many loyal friends throughout the years. Above all he was an amazing, steadfast father, who committed himself to his family and his faith. He was dedicated to passing his legacy of knowledge and wisdom on to his family, children and friends. Joe was also a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge #487. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 22, 2012 at 9:30 AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Binghamton. Burial will follow at Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal. Family and friends are invited to call at the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY Thursday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. The Sons of Italy Lodge will meet at the funeral home at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made for his grandchildren, to: The Paul Ranucci Benefit Fund, c/o Christine Ranucci @M&T bank. An additional Remembrance Service for Joe and Assunta will be held Sunday, June 24, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at the First United Methodist Church of Chenango Bridge.
