Linda E. Chaffee, 68, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 3, 2023. She was predeceased by her parents John & Carole Rumpel. She is survived by her daughter Aimee & Michael Vest, son Billie & Shannon Vest and son Christopher Chaffee & Shanon Jeevananda; her life partner, David Emmi; grandchildren Ashley, Alex, Kendra, Makayla, Andrew, Christina, Anthony & Mason; great grandsons Kent & Connor; siblings Debbie & Frank Salvato, Kathy & Larry Lyons, Joanne Abrams, Susie & Al Shannon and Patricia Strollo & Don Fry; several nieces, nephews & cousins and many special friends.
Linda was a loving and devoted person to everyone that knew her. She was a free spirit, who enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved traveling to the beaches and lakes with her parents and sisters, traveling and bonding with her children and grandchildren in her small piece of heaven in the Tennessee Smoky Mountains, fishing with her three children, and made countless numbers of lifelong friends. She enjoyed the natural, simple things in life, such as going with her companion to take their sweet Maddie for a stroll in the park, sitting in her own oasis that she created in her yard and porch. She had a passion for gardening, flowers, nature and wildlife. She enjoyed the small things, such as doing puzzles with her grandchildren, playing board games with her family, and teaching her granddaughters how to crochet. She had a passion for the arts. She could turn a piece of trash into a beautiful piece of treasure in the blink of an eye. Linda was a strong, caring, selfless, family oriented, passionate being. She wanted to make the world a better place for her children. She never complained, always wanted to keep everyone around her happy. She was a daughter, a mother, a nana, a sister, a cousin, an aunt, a life partner, a dear friend. We are all better people for loving her, knowing her, and just talking to her. Her values, strength, simplicity, and love will live on through everyone she touched forever.
The Family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson on Friday from 12-1pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 1pm. In lieu of flowers those wishing kindly consider donations in Linda’s memory to the Broome County Humane Society, 167 Conklin Ave. Binghamton, NY 13903.
