

Lloyd W. “Bucky” Merritt 84, Kirkwood, passed peacefully on December 14, 2017 at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond & Hattie, brothers, Allen, Leon, Walter and Vernon, sisters, Lila, Elnora, Janice and Laura. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda and his children, Gail Merritt, Daniel & Rebecca Merritt and Debra & Allen McMichael, his grandchildren, Julie & Kelvin Lee, Rachel Merritt and Mason Merritt, Nicholas Finch (Rachel Fusko), Marissa Finch (Donnie Button) and Eric McMichael, great grandchildren, Deslyn and Shealyn Finch, sisters Ardelle Merritt, Charlene & Ralph Hoyt, Jean Michael and several in-laws also many nieces and nephews. Lloyd served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict as an MP, he was a retired New York State Trooper serving from 1955-1972. He also was the Town of Kirkwood Justice from 1973-1998 and a Meals on Wheels Volunteer for several years. Lloyd was a member of the Kirkwood Lions Club and a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church. He loved to travel and had taken 25 cruises with his wife. He loved sports but was especially an avid hockey fan. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday December 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Fairview United Methodist Church 254 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY 13904, burial will follow in the Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00-6:00 pm at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson, NY 13901.
