Lymie graduated from Norwich High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He later built a long career with Frontier Communications before retiring.
He was the loving husband of Judi Barrett, his wife of 50 years and a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Above all, Lymie treasured his family, and his greatest enjoyment came from simply being with those he loved. He never missed a special occasion or an opportunity to celebrate those who meant the most to him.
Throughout their 50 years of marriage, Lymie and Judi built a full and beautiful life together. Lymie was well loved and known by many. He and Judi could often be found attending social events, celebrations, and gatherings together. Wherever life took them, they had a way of bringing people together, building a strong village of family and friends bonded by love, friendship, and endless laughter.
Whenever he had the chance, Lymie could be found on the golf course, always chasing the next hole-in-one. He also enjoyed traveling, hunting, and gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judi Barrett; his children, Patty Hansen (Hank), Brett Hurt (Missy), and Bart Hurt; his grandchildren, Ryan Hansen (Tawney), Shawn Hansen, Courtney Hansen, Brandyn Hurt (Jenny), Taylor Ryan (Patrick), Brett Hurt, Jr. (Jessica), Kory McManus (Kayla), Tayler Latu (Kirsten), Ray Austin, and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Myrtle Barrett.
A Celebration of Lymie's Life will be held at a later date with family and friends.
