Margaret J. Backus

Margaret J. Backus, 88, passed away March 13, 2018. She was predeceased by her son Ronald Hensberry; her first husband Karl Hensberry and her second husband Clifton Rosengrant. She is survived by her husband Mark Backus, daughter Sandra & Ken Berry,sons Ric & Joan Hensberry, Scott Rosengrant & Lois, many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother Don & Dee Dart, sister Bobbie VanDusen and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Margaret was a longtime member of North Pointe Church. She was an amazing cook who always put everyone else first. Her laughter filled the room. She loved music and dancing but most of all she was a mother to all. It didn’t matter if they were her own children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends, nieces or nephews everyone had a home in her home. She raised generations of children as if they were her own and created a legacy that will continue far into the future. Every one of us, having a piece of her story to share and a piece of her heart to carry on with.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018, 11am at the North Pointe Church, 126 E Service Road, Binghamton, NY 13901. Burial will be in Spring Forest Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the church from 10am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers those wishing kindly consider memorial contributions to North Pointe Church.

My faorite memory of Peg was the day she called and asked me to be her maid of honor when she married my wonderful brother. I will always remember her beautiful smile and most wonderful laugh. I will miss her dearly.
