Mary C. Slater

Mary Catherine (Delanoy) Jones Slater, 87, of Binghamton, died peacefully in her sleep on November 22, 2012. She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Jones, and by her son, Gary Jones. Born on January 4, 1925, she is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Raymond Slater; her son, Tom Jones; devoted grandson, Jason (Tammy Larry) Jones; granddaughters, Amanda Jones, Natasha (Todd Queener) Jones of Federal Way, WA, and Briana (Jeremiah) Terwilliger; her great-grandsons, Hunter Larry, Alex Queener, and Aiden Jones; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Jones (Jere) Kunkle; very special and dear confidante, Nancy Walcott and her family; as well as extended family and friends. Mary was a faithful and long-standing member of Emmanual Presbyterian Church, Binghamton. She retired from General Electric after 27 years of service. She was an avid gardener and bowler. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, hosting parties at the pool, and spending cherished time with family and friends. She was known for her potato salad and sunny disposition. The family wanted to give special recognition to grandson, Jason, and best friend, Nancy, for giving daily support in the last few months of Mary's life. Services in celebration of her life will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012, at 2PM, at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St, Port Dickinson, NY. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1PM to 2PM. A private burial service will be held at Chenango Valley Cemetery.
