

Michael J. Igo, Sr., 87, of Binghamton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara, and his brothers, Joe, James, and Daniel. Survivors include his children, Michael J. (Peggy) Igo, Jr., Christine (Tim) Brown, James (Julie) Igo, and Timothy Igo; his sister, Helen Gaffney; his sister in law, Nancy Shatara; and close friends, Tim and Donna Phillips.
Michael was born in Binghamton on July 4, 1938 and would often joke about it being the National Holiday, “Igo Day”. Michael worked for over 30 years at Binghamton City School District and was a proud member of CSEA. He was involved in the local boxing community for 40 years, teaching boxing and training fighters. He loved doing things for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
At Michael’s request, there will be no formal services. His family will celebrate his life on Sunday, August 17 from 1pm to 5pm at American Legion Post 80, 76 Main St. Binghamton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home.
