I had the opportunity to work with Mike over the past 30 years. He was a dedicated hard worker that cared about the success of the business but never lost his touch with people and what was truly important. His family was everything to him! He was a proud father and had the courage of a lion. These are the qualities that made Mike someone you wanted to be around. My deepest sympathy to Brenda and his kids. God Bless you all and may all the wonderful memories carry you!

Brenda, Tim, Renee, Joe, Patty, Mrs. Kelly and family,
My deepest sympathy to you all. I have and will continue to pray that you are surrounded by God's comforting arms. Mike's passion for you and his friends was widely recognized and contagious to those blessed to have known him. Over the years, I have thought of you and Mike often. I recall road trips Mike and I took from Scranton to Waverly, joining your family on vacation to Myrtle Beach, etc. I felt like a family member during those years and fell in love with you all. Mike, my co-captain on the Royals, was thought of so often over the years. I think of the many competitors he beat up on the mat, how his courtship with Brenda blossomed, etc. He was not only my best man at the wedding, he was the best man I've known (sorry Tim and Joe but you guys still make the top 10). Milk loved you all. Mike will be missed and never forgotten. Take comfort in knowing that he is at rest in the warmth of God's house and may God bless you all.
Love,
Jerry Rivers ("Jer Riv")

My deepest regrets and heart felt condolences. Mike was a great friend growing up and through high school. He always had words of encouragement and his competitive spirit made us the best we could be.......from country club football through all the sports teams and the Northup's weight room.
God bless him and his family.

Dear Brenda,
I was just informed by my mother of Mike's passing and cannot express enough how saddened my wife and I are of your loss. I have often regretted not making a point to say hello to you and Mike at the Windsor Christmas Tournament in 2010 while up there with my team from North Carolina. I not only followed Troy's career on the mat but enjoyed following Kyle's success over the past three years, and look forward to his continued success on the mat. I remember Mike being a strong and humble champion at the Windsor Tourney in the 70's and am fortunate he was heavier than I.
We believe that although Mike is no longer here physically, his spirit will live on forever. Trust that he will forever be by your families side and with no doubt, always in Kyles corner.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.
God Bless

I worked with Mike on and off for the past 25 years with the last few working directly for him. Occasionally, we would not see things eye to eye (he could be a bit firm in his convictions) but it always seemed, after I thought about it for a while, that what Mike wanted to do was the right thing to do. As I think of Mike, I think that, in part, sums him up...he always wanted to do the right thing...for his beloved wife and kids, for his family, for his friends and colleagues. That is what I learned from Mike...do the right thing. My deepest condolences to Brenda and the kids, he truly loved you all.

I worked with Mike for many of the past 30 years and for him directly for the past few years. Over those years we did not always see eye to eye on everything (as you may know Mike was, ah, strong in his opinions.) However, after thinking about what he wanted, I always seemed to realize that what he's wanted was the right thing to do. As I think of Mike I think that kind of sums him up...he always wanted to do the right thing. For his beloved kids and wife, for his family, for his friends and colleagues, for his business. And that will be the lesson I learned from knowing him. Heart felt condolences to Brenda and the kids, he truly loved you all.

Mike was a great man. I appreciated all the things he done for my Son Richard. It takes a special man to help others the way he did. We will always remember his support and sponsorship for Richard. Thank you God for giving us his friendship and help.

I cannot express my sorrow for the loss of one of my best friends. He is one of the rare individuals that impacted my life in many ways while growing up. He showed me what sportsmanship was about and was there to help in any way he could. From the days of playing "pick up" football games at Shepard Hills to High School sports. As we grew and went on with our lives, we may have lost touch, but if I had a question or problem in life, I would think to myself, "what would Mike Kelly do?" My prayers are with the Kelly family, you all are very special to us. Doug Van Allen and Family

There are no words strong enough to express the inspiration Mike has given me as well as so many other Lockheed employees. I feel blessed to have been his Administrative Assistant and thank God for bringing him into my life. I will remember the countless hours of time we worked (and talked) together. He was a humble man, never wanting to put people out, who repeated time after time the love and pride he had for Brenda and the kids. Because of him, I am a stronger person and when the sun shines, I will look up and see his smile and hear him say as he did daily "Hey Boss, what you got me doing today?"

My sincere prayers and condolences go out to Mike's entire family. Though it has been many years, Mike was an endearing childhood friend, (Wavery), classmate (St. James), teamate (Golden Eagles), and later a competitor after I moved from Waverly. Mike always had a very dignified and admirable way of motivating one to their potential. So little was I surprised when I got a recent email from Mike telling me that his son Kyle was a two-time N.Y.S. Wrestling Champion, " a chip off the old block". God gave Mike a tough cross to bare with his illness and in true Mike Kelly fashion he did so with courage, dignity, and strength. You made it across the goal line buddy! May you rest in peace and tread lightly with the Angels.

I Watched a Candle Cry
The distracting laughter and dance of the flame
Could not hide the sorrow felt inside
As ice blue tears trickled down
Forming a lasting pool.
No air will erase it.
No cloth will wipe it dry.
There is no way to hide the fact,
That a candle has cried.
