

Milton James Harris "Milt" passed away on December 11, 2022 at the age of 89 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine "Gerry" Harris; his parents Harry and Gertrude Harris; and siblings Richard Harris, Doris Iannone, and Ronald Harris. He is survived by his children Mark Harris (Kathy Mattison), James Harris, and Carolyn (Michael) Orzelek; grandchildren, Keri Hull, Cory Jones, Audrey Orzelek and Michael Orzelek II, Shannon Wood, Michael Chier, and Dillon Fuller; great-grandchild, Kendal Schmidt; sisters Beverly Szelkowski and Dawn Daly; brothers, Phil Harris, Daryl Harris, Raymond Harris, Russell Harris; and sisters-in-law, Joanne Harris, Amy Harris, Sally Harris, April Harris, Kathy Harris, and Phyllis Keefer; and many other family members.
Milt was born in Binghamton, NY on April 14, 1933 to Harry and Gertrude Harris. He graduated from Binghamton North High School. He served his country by joining the Naval Reserves during the Korean War. Milt worked for Kroehler Furniture Manufacturer and Roberson Museum and Science Center for many years, and then became a self-employed carpenter for the remainder of his years. Milt was a talented craftsman and skilled wood worker. He built his own house at age 25. He enjoyed working on projects such as remodeling houses, building decks, sheds, and various other projects.
He enjoyed several hobbies such as model railroading, antique autos, and building and restoring furniture. He volunteered his time at Roberson Center's Christmas forest and ran model trains. He enjoyed traveling to national parks and loved nature and the outdoors. He took various trips to see family and took a cross-country trip down old Route 66.
Milt was a hardworking and dedicated man. He greatly loved his family and attended many family gatherings. He was a dedicated husband, loving father, and proud grandfather of many grandchildren, who will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson, NY. A memorial service will follow immediately at 1:00pm. Interment will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
