Myrna “Candy” Card, of Binghamton, NY, entered peacefully into God’s kingdom on February 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 6, 1945, in Jamestown, NY, she was the daughter of Gordon and Shirlee Howard. Myrna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Roger Card, her sister Diane, and former husband and father of her children, Donald Nelson Kimble.
“Mama,” as she was affectionately known, had a deep and abiding love for her God, and for her family. She shared with everyone she met how proud she was of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was always there for anyone in need, and even in times when she had little to give, she would share what she had.
She had an unparalleled thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning. She was a fierce scrabble competitor and crossword aficionado. She enjoyed puzzles of all kinds. She loved plants and gardening, and was an expert in all the products she sold at Card’s Produce Stand. Hearing her describe the taste of a good tomato or cantaloupe made you want to go to the ends of the earth to get one. She also loved to talk, about anything, and to anyone. During a conversation with her, you felt like you were the only two people in the world.
Mama’s curiosity and generosity are her legacy. Her grace, intellect, warmth, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children and step-children Michael (Amy) Kimble, Mark (Kristen) Kimble, Matthew (Shawn) Kimble, Colleen, George Jr and Anna Card; Grandchildren Benjamin (Meaghan Clark) Kimble , Eric (Katelyn) Kimble, John (Megan) Kimble, Hannah Reeg, Maddison Gilchrist, Calya Perricelli, Marten Kimble, Timothy Kimble, Elizabeth (Kalob) Pickett, Ryan Kimble, Nicky (Matthew) Keir, Shannon Hickling, Crystal Evanchof, and Tiffany (Jim) Wheelock; Great-grandchildren Dawson, Coben and Blakely Kimble, Cameron, Cayleigh and Connor Kimble, Lucas and Emma Kimble, Eliza Sigel, Quentin Keir, Everet Shephard, Bradley and Noah Musshafen.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 8th at noon in the North Pavilion in Dorchester Park, Whitney Point. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Lung Association or the UHS Wilson Cardiac/Coronary ICU @ nyuhs.org.
