Nelson S. Fiske

Binghamton: Nelson S. Fiske, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23 with his wife of 61 years, Leona, by his side. He was pre-deceased by eight of his brothers and sisters. Along with Leona, Nelson is survived by his brother, Emerson and Sandy Fiske; his sister, Gloria Canfield; his sister in law, Jean Yavorski; his niece, Debbie Yavorski; many other nieces, nephews and friends including Dan and Laura Whittaker, Ray and Janet Rood and the entire Rood family. Nelson grew up in Hallstead, Pennsylvania, one of 11 children born to Leslie and Esther Fiske. He owned and operated Sage Supply in Binghamton for many years until his retirement. He was a very generous man who was known to help many family members and others when the need arose. Nelson also loved to play golf with his friend, Jim Evans and to drive new cars which he always kept in showroom condition. Funeral and committal services will be held at 6:00pm on Wednesday, August 26, at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson. Burial will take place at a later time at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nelson's memory may be made to Lourdes Hospice 169 Riverside Dr. Binghamton, NY 13905.
