Patricia G. Barber was lovingly received into the arms of our Lord and her family on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. She passed away suddenly after a battle with Parkinson’s. She is predeceased by her mother, Ellen M. Barber and sister, Tamara B. Burke. She is survived by her nieces, Caitlin Burke and Alison Burke; great-niece, Alexis Burke; long-time sweetheart and life partner, Ralph Luciani; several cousins and close and special friends. She graduated from Binghamton North High School and then received her bachelor’s degree from Mansfield University and received her master’s degree from SUNY Oneonta. She retired from Johnson City School district where she spent her long career teaching family and consumer sciences to generations of students. She loved teaching at the middle school and had many wonderful memories of the friends she made there and the legion of students she taught over the years. She loved seeing them while she was out and about and rarely made it through a shopping trip without hearing “Ms. Barber!” from a former student. She was a member of Conklin Avenue First Baptist Church for most of her life and served for a time on the Board of Deacons. She was also involved in many organizations and clubs over the years: Delta Kappa Gamma- Beta Rho Chapter, Monday Afternoon Club, Binghamton Hat Ladies, AAFCS, ABWA and many more. Along with her professional career she pursued her musical talent, enjoyed tennis, shopping, entertaining, volunteering, reading and spending time at the beach in Ocean City, NJ. Her warm smile and infectious laugh made our world better. She was respected and loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed! Funeral services will be held at Conklin Avenue First Baptist Church on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Chenango Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 3-5 p.m. The family wishes to thank UHS and Elizabeth Church Manor for their compassionate care.
