Paul passed away peacefully on December 24, 2012, after a brief illness. He was born on August 7, 1914 in Providence, RI. Paul was predeceased by his parents Mary and Giuseppe Carabino; his younger brother Dominick who died at the battle of Normandy; his sisters and brothers-in-law Rosie and Tony Serino, Eleanor and Alex Puma; his loving wife of 62 years Frances Carabino; his son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Chris Carabino; his grandson, Paul Edwards.
He is survived by his devoted daughter and son-in-law Paula and Bill Edwards; his grandchildren Krista and Korin Edwards, Andy and Sara Carabino; his sister Angie Mandicott, and several nieces and nephews.
Paul came to his area from Exeter, PA, to work at Endicott Johnson. He later retired from ARA Vending Services. Paul was a Marine and served in Okinawa and China during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He remained proud to be a member of the Marine Corps.
He was a long time member of Saints John and Andrew Parish; he was also involved in the Holy Name Society. Paul was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League, American Legion Post #80, VFW Post #478, and Binghamton Elks Lodge #70.
Paul was an avid coin collector, sports fan, history enthusiast and enjoyed reading and studying languages. He was extremely proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed Italian food, music and dance. Paul loved watching hockey. Over the years he had season tickets to the various teams in the Binghamton area. Paul enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was very proud of his grandchildren. He had a special bond with his neighbors on Pearl Ave and was very thankful for their friendship.
The family will receive friends from 9-11 am on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Saint John and Andrew Parish, 1263 Vestal Ave, Binghamton with a Funeral Mass to follow. Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
