

Phyllis S. Whitney, 91 of Binghamton, died on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Wilson Hospital. She was born in Deposit, NY on August 30, 1930 to the late John & Amelia Schwenz, in addition to her parents she was also predeceased by several siblings.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Timothy Whitney and Becky Turkow, daughter, Lorie Whitney Borrelli and husband Joseph, grandchildren, Joseph Jr., wife Jessica and Jessica Barnhill and husband Andrew and great grandchildren, Dexter and Harper Borrelli and Milizhia, Brecken and Asa Barnhill. Also survived by her brothers, Donald, Harry and Charles Schwenz and sister, Shirley Murphy plus several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was a long time member of the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church and spent many years working for United Way of Broome County and the YMCA Binghamton. Her other passion was her cats, dogs and watching the birds. The family her wonderful neighbors Gail & Tom Bielefeldt for the daily care and thoughtfulness.
A celebration of Phyllis’s life will begin on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church 918 Front St. Binghamton, NY 13905 the at 11:00 am a Memorial Service will take place there. She will be buried in Floral Park Cemetery at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, please kindly consider memorial contributions to either the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church or the YMCA of Binghamton.
