

Ricke R. Casterlin, 55, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026, after a long, heroic six-year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Shari; children, Erica & Corey, Courtney & Cindell and Zachary & Jill; grandchildren, Hudson & Charlotte; father, Gary & Cindi; mother Christine and siblings Jamie & Mike and Chad & Amy.
Ricke was an active fireman with the Chenango Forks Fire Department for 30 years. He proudly served his community with honor, dedication, and resilience, eventually holding the highest achievement as Chief. Ricke also proudly served his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force from 1990-1994.
Many of his favorite memories were spent fishing, hunting, kayaking, and camping. He often talked about his many trips to Myrtle Beach with his family, camping with his grandparents and siblings, and later sharing that love of camping with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He looked forward to his trips to Canada with his late best friend, Mike. Many will remember him for his sweet tooth, which fueled his ultimate love for baking. He had a constant curiosity for trying new recipes and a daily craving to satisfy.
Ricke will be remembered for his strength and for being a great husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the dedicated medical professionals and staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for the exceptional care and compassion they provided.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, 2pm at the Port Crane Cemetery.
