MacFarlane and his wife, Gail, as well as her niece Bonnie and Bonnie’s husband Joe. She is survived by her son Eric Allen Johnson (Therese) and grandchildren Charlynn Marie (great grandchildren Alexis and Noah), Russell William (Taylor and great grandchild Addison) and Timothy Robert (Abby) of Chenango Bridge; her son Neil Scott Johnson and daughter-in-law, Regina McBride and granddaughter Miranda of New York City; her sister, Nan Brooke of Poughkeepsie, NY, and nieces and nephews, Rob (Cathy Jean), Linda (Bill), David (Carol); and her brother Bob’s children Donna (Robert) and Susan (Ralph). RoseAnn was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, daughter of Sarah MacFarlane and Robert MacFarlane. She was an excellent student who loved poetry and reading. A gifted actress, she was admitted to the Glasgow Academy of Dramatic Art. She remembered hiding with her family in shelters during the bombings of Glasgow in World War II.
When RoseAnn was eighteen, she traveled to America with her father. Other family members soon followed. RoseAnn worked as a secretary for Bristol Meyers in an office at Rockefeller Center, and loved to visit Saint Patrick’s Cathedral on her lunch hour. She married Russell Johnson, a salesman of Norwegian and Swedish ancestry, had her sons Eric and Neil and moved to Binghamton where they made their home, and where she worked as a secretary at The Wyoming Conference Children’s Home. In her later years, RoseAnn took great comfort from listening to books for the blind, provided by BARD.
A much beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, RoseAnn leaves behind so many who will never forget her kindness, generosity, and fantastic sense of humor.
A favorite motto of hers was: “Laugh often, long and loud. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with them.”
She lives on within everyone she touched, deeply loved and admired.
