Stephen J. Schmidt

Stephen J. Schmidt, 52, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at his home. He was predeceased by his father, Wolfgang Schmidt; his Oma, Gertrude Balsamo; his loving cat, Sweetie. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Brigitte and Fred Wehrman; cherished daughters, Stefani and Emma Schmidt and their mother, Treena; sister, Michele Ann Katherine Schmidt; special nephew, Maddox Thornton; step-sisters, Ann and Roy Lopez and their son, Michelle and Rich Bassett and their daughters. He adored his daughters, family, pets and friends. Stephen enjoyed being surrounded by good music, laughter and always family and friends. For those he cared for the most he had such a big heart and was very generous. He was the owner of FBM Construction and took pride in the quality of work he was able to provide to others. He was an avid Redskins fan that loved football and sports. Just out of high school he served in the Army overseas for two years. He was always ready with a quick joke to light up your day. He will be greatly missed by us all. May he rest in peace with those gone before him, his memory will live in all of us. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 4-6 pm at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson. A funeral service will be on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 11:00 am at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral home.
