Virginia (Ginny) Williams Ryan, 98, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday Jun 10, 2026 at Ideal Senior Living Center in Endicott, NY.
Ginny was the youngest of 9 children born to James West and Elizabeth (Devlin) West in Elmira, NY. There, she met and married her love, David Ransom Williams and they raised three children together. Following the sudden passing of Dave at age 43, she gained employment at Elmira College, managing the Housekeeping Department for many years. Virginia married again, Edward “Doc” Ryan, who passed away after several years of their marriage. Upon her retirement from Elmira College, Virginia moved to Windsor, NY to be closer to family and later moved into Binghamton, easily making many friends along the way.
Ginny was preceded in death by parents, husbands, her five brothers and three sisters, her life long girlfriends Catherine, Rosie and Betty and daughter-in-law Ann Williams as well as several other extended family. She loved them all dearly and spoke often of being reunited with them again.
She is survived by her three children, David Ransom Williams of Bloomington, Indiana, Deborah Williams Henion of Charlottesville, VA and Mark Williams of Newfield, NY, grandchildren Audrey, Natalie, David, Cate, Tim, and Casey and seven great grandchildren. To them, she leaves a legacy of independence, resilience, determination, hard work, generosity and love of family.
The family would like to thank the staff on Daisy Court at Ideal Senior Living Center for the love and excellent care they provided to Virginia during the last few years of her life.
According to Virginia’s wishes, no services have been planned. The family will privately lay her to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, NY.
