William J. Poit Jr. passed away peacefully, September 5, 2023 at the age of 95. Bill was predeceased by his parents William and Hulda Poit and by his twin brother Robert E. Poit. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Judy, sister Marilyn Lindblad (Ted), son William J. Poit III (Maria), daughter Elizabeth Button (Craig), grandsons Steven and Thomas Button (Nilima), great grandson Ji Button and nieces and nephews.
Bill proudly served as a Marine in Korea. He worked his entire career at Grumman Aerospace as a research lab technician. A highlight of his career was when he was called to the Kennedy Space Center to fix an experiment destined for the Space Shuttle.
Bill was an avid and skilled woodworker making furniture and turning bowls. He and Judy also enjoyed many years of traveling around the world. He enjoyed his life to the fullest.
Bill’s life will be honored and celebrated with family in Virginia at Thanksgiving.
