Willy loved working on cars and he worked for Chevrolet Dealers as a mechanic and service & parts manager. He also spent many wonderful years at Burr Truck. Willy was married at and was a member of the Chenango Bridge United Methodist Church. He loved Cayuga Lake and spending time at the family cottage. He was very active in his community; he was the Past Chief of the Chenango Bridge Fire Company, a member of the Broome County Fireman’s Assn., CNY Fireman’s Assn, NYS Fireman’s Assn., and the NYS Association of Fire Chiefs. He was instrumental in starting the fire company’s first medical response unit and the EMS Vehicle. He was also involved in getting the companies first Hurst Rescue Tool. He was also a NYS Certified EMT and helped train numerous firefighters and first responders in Broome County. Most of all he loved his family; spending time with his wife, gardening, attending his children’s activities, watching his grandson Kenny play his trumpet and conduct his band, and watching his grandson Matthew fly airplanes and get married. He was admired by all for his hard work and dedication to his family, friends and community.
