Anthony C. Assande

Anthony C. Assande, a compassionate soul who touched countless lives with his warmth and dedication, peacefully passed away on January 8, 2024, at the age of 69 in Summerfield, FL. Born on November 9, 1954, in Oceanside, NY, Anthony, affectionately known as Tony, enriched the world with his presence until his final days.

Tony's journey began in Oceanside, but it was in Ronkonkoma, NY, and later in Summerfield, FL, where he found his true sense of belonging. After graduating from St. John the Baptist High School, he pursued higher education at Farmingdale College, where he earned an associate's degree. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Linda, and on a beautiful autumn day, they exchanged vows, marking the beginning of a remarkable 45-year journey together.

Professionally, Tony was a pillar of support for families during their most challenging moments. With unwavering dedication, he served as a funeral director for IJ Morris Chapels and SCI, providing comfort and solace to those in need. His empathy and caring nature left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Tony was deeply committed to his community. He generously supported various local organizations and invested his time and energy into making a positive difference. He had a zest for life and a thirst for knowledge, always eager to explore new interests, whether it was through music, reading, cooking, or embarking on long walks in the woods with his family and beloved dogs.

Tony's greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his cherished granddaughter, Kate. He found solace in reading with her and witnessing the world through her innocent eyes. His love and devotion knew no bounds, and his presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Tony is survived by his loving wife, Linda, his daughter Vicky, his son Bill and daughter-in-law Meredith, his adored granddaughter Kate, his mother-in-law Sandy, his sister Joann, and a host of other cherished family members and friends. Although he may no longer walk among us, Tony's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

In honoring Tony's memory, let us celebrate the legacy of love, compassion, and kindness that he leaves behind. A celebration of life for Tony will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 3-8 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776.
