Claire Peck, Age 93, of Stony Brook, NY passed away peacefully on March 13, 2022. She leaves behind a long legacy of love that spreads throughout Long Island and beyond. Born in Jamaica, NY in 1928, she grew up in Queens Village with her adored late sister Anne Stefanski and late brothers Alexander “Wally”, and Eddie Stefanski.
As a former long-distance operator for Bell Telephone, Claire always stayed connected with her family and friends, whether she was living in East Northport, NY, Phoenix, AZ or Stony Brook, NY. A supporter of special education, she also worked with BOCES and was active with the Catholic Daughters of America and the Rosary Society.
Claire leaves behind her devoted children Deborah Santo of Port Jefferson and Lewis Schlick of Northport. She was the beloved wife of the late Luther A. Peck, whom she wed in 1965, and loving mother of 60 years to his children Diane Greaves of South Bend, IN, Roger Peck of Chicago, IL and Carole Dunn of Davenport, FL. She leaves behind her admired sons-in-law, Anthony Santo and Joseph Dunn, along with her much loved daughter-in-law, Cany Schlick.
Her memory and babka recipe lives on through 41 grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was adoring “Gigi” to her grandchildren Rebecca Werthner, Benjamin Schlick, Christopher Schlick, Jeremy Schlick, Douglas Santo, Laurie Santo, Cassie Greaves-Dillon, Jessa Greaves, Carrie-Ann Dunn, and Joseph Dunn and loved “Grandma Peck” to Naomi Cacho.
Claire is predeceased by her parents and siblings, along with her cherished daughter-in-laws Patricia Schlick and Linda Peck.
Friends and relatives are invited to call Tuesday, 3/15, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm & 7:00 - 9:00 PM, at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 3/16 at 10:15 a.m. at Sts. Philip & James RC Church in St. James, NY. Claire will be laid to rest next to her late husband Luther Peck in Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
In lieu of flowers, prayers can be offered to NY Mets that they make it to the playoffs this season.
