

David Black, affectionately known as "handsome Dave" and a beloved resident of Port Jefferson Station, NY, passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on January 7, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY, Dave was the cherished husband of the late Angela and a devoted family man who brought light and joy to all who knew him.
Dave is survived by his loving daughter, Deborah DiSimone, and her husband, Tony. He was the proud and cherished "Gramps" of Salvatore DiSimone and his fiancée, Brianna Anderson, as well as Krystal Marinello and her fiancé, Austin Muldoon. He is also survived by his loving companion, Ann Schnur. His family was his greatest treasure, and his love for them was boundless.
A devoted Christian, Dave embraced his faith and the simple joys of life. He was an avid enthusiast of sports cars, especially his 2018 Mustang convertible, often seen cruising with the top down and Botticelli’s melodies filling the air. A skilled bowler and a golfer with a heart of gold, he brought passion and kindness to every lane and green.
Dave’s love of life extended to his fondness for IHOP, where he became a cherished regular and even befriended the owners. He delighted in grand openings and weekend visits, a testament to his warm and welcoming nature. His adventures took him across the globe, where he captured memories through photography during countless cruises.
A man of unique tastes, Dave had a love for hot tea with honey, raspberry Snapple, devil dogs, chocolate milk, and Spam. Even during his health kicks, he enjoyed canned spinach, salmon, and mashed potatoes. Known for his resourcefulness, he was a master of duct tape, firmly believing it could fix anything.
Dave’s life will be celebrated with a visitation on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 1-4 PM and 7-9 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3442 Route 112, Coram, NY.
David Black’s kindness, humor, and zest for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Angela.
