Donna Marie Abruzzo (nee Ilowite), of Middle Island, NY, passed away on July 29, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on June 11, 1964, in Queens, NY, Donna was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and devotion to her family left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Donna was the loving and devoted mother of Thomas J. Abruzzo (Allison Barbaro) and Anthony V. Abruzzo (Danielle), whom she cherished more than anything. She was the beloved daughter of Marie E. Levin and the late Donald Ilowite, and the cherished sister of Chris Ilowite and Deborah Hermane (Thomas). Her family meant the world to her, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Donna's warmth extended beyond her human family—she was a proud and devoted dog mom to her beloved pitbull, Zeke. Her love for animals, especially dogs, was just one of the many ways she showed her gentle, nurturing spirit.
A true creative soul, Donna found joy in many hobbies. She had a passion for gardening and could often be found tending lovingly to her flowers. She enjoyed days at the beach, playing piano, creating beautiful artwork through painting and drawing, and practicing embroidery and sewing. Her hands were always busy, and her heart always full.
An avid New York Islanders fan, Donna also found her greatest joy in cheering on her sons at their hockey games, beaming with pride from the stands.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation in Donna’s honor on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Cremation will be private.
Donna will be remembered for her generous heart, her creativity, and her deep love for her family and those closest to her. She will be missed beyond measure and forever loved.
