I so enjoyed our times playing cards and Genio joined us .
He would talk of Italy which guess he always missed.
  Now he is at peace and didn’t suffer .

There’s a lifetime of memories I could share as I have known Genio my entire life.  When I was a child, I remember him always in the backyard at Commack either playing with one of his dogs or working on something. If he wasn’t, then he was lying on the couch downstairs watching westerns.  He was an avid hunter who enjoyed coming upstate to hunt, and he was always ready to lend a hand when needed. My children and I enjoyed  walking the property either upstate or down in Port Jefferson and hearing the stories of his childhood in Italy.  I will never forget how, on my visits down to Long Island, he would insist on checking my car over to make sure I had safe travels home. I will miss him greatly and will treasure all the many memories I have. 

Every time I hear Italian music playing I think of Genio., as he always loved to sing. He was a good husband, father and lifelong friend.  I will miss  our times spent together laughing around the kitchen table. Peace be with you Genio and your family.

Mr Fontana was such a kind man with the biggest heart!  He spent so many hours on the front stoop of their Commack home talking with Steven each time we would visit.  Steven was about 3 or 4 years old and Genio and "the boy" would talk for hours.  Denine and I always joked....wondering if either of them had any clue what the other was saying.   
It didn't matter what the conversation was.....Genio made Steven feel loved and that always left him wanting to go back to visit. 
May you rest in peace!  You will be greatly missed!!

My first time meeting Mr Fontana was his trip to Colorado.  We sat on the Pearl street mall watching street performers. He shared great memories growing up in Italy as a boy. Loved those stories no matter how often I would hear them, all the while listening to Elvis on the radio. 

Our trips back to NY to see the family were always special, bocce in the summer, food wine cocktails dancing and singing over Christmas.  I’ve only known Mr Fontana for a short time however the lasting imprint on my heart I will cherish always.  The hole he has left can never be filled, but we will think of you often Mr Fontana, and will raise a glass and sing your favorite songs every chance we get.  Peace be with you sir...

I have so many fond memories, it’s hard to pick one. I loved walking with him and having him point out all the fruit trees and reminisce about the old country.  He was always singing and when he would smile, there was always a twinkle in his eye full of mischief. This was especially true when it came to him sneaking more wine, dessert, or feeding Watson.  I will miss him greatly.  

My fondest memories were when we had a house full of friends and family. The wine was always flowing and the food never stopped.  Genio loved to reminisce about the “old country”. 

We spent much of our time back in Italy where our door was always open to anyone who wanted to stop by. Many times a quick cup of espresso turned into a glass of grappa and on some nights a guitar would appear and he would sing the old Italian songs. 

We shared many happy times and I will miss him dearly.  I will carry him In my heart forever.



Mr. Fontana will live with Pat and I always.  Always welcoming, sharing good times and good stories over his dinner table. 

He loved to share stories of his home town Valdastico, Italy. Bringing his boyhood home to life - the steep mountain valley, sweet waters of the river, working in the fields, playing bocci, walking and singing with friends in the town and his beloved family.

And can he play bocci.....playing quieting but with a  glint in his eye.   He was a fierce competitor who played to the end and usually won.  Always with grace. 

Always ready to  sing and dance after family dinners ... with a glass of two of sweet red wine....and perhaps a lesson on Italian pronunciation.... such good memories.   

We are honored to know him and loved him deeply.  He will live with us always. 

I am so grateful to have had you as my father.  You taught us to be strong and to take care of others. Your presence touched so many lives. You will be greatly missed but I will cherish the memories you left behind forever.

Daddy we miss you so much and love you so much be at peace now Play bocce ball with all your friends

Genio was a lovely man with such a gentle soul.
His struggles are over and he is at peace.
