Jack was the skipper of the Laidley which was docked at Sand Point, MD. We always liked going down to visit him because he was such a colorful guy. He knew his ship and instrumentation.

On behalf of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey Heritage Society, he will be missed. We had our annual meeting and lunch yesterday and remembered him in our tributes. He was a well known and liked NOAA NOS Office of Coast Survey colleague and friend. I felt like everyone knew him.

I was sad to hear that Jack was gone.
He was a stalwart of The Hydrographic Society and a pleasure to be with for conversations both serious or light and lively.
God Bless Gentleman Jack Wallace.

Rest in peace Jack. While re-working the THSOA and Houston, we had some spiriting conversations yet all aimed at moving forward. Your passion, diligence, and unselfish effort towards making the THSOA a better place, will never be forgotten. We salute you for your accomplishments and moreover, out of rank and respect Sir. Our condolences to your family which I am sure you will take of from above. We shall miss you Jack !!

I am saddened to hear that Jack has passed. I have known him for many years; when I was a contractor for NOAA and through THSOA. He was supportive of the Student Outreach Program, and worked hard for the society. RIP Jack, I will miss you.

The hydrographic community has lost a Hall of Famer. I will miss Jack. We had great times, heated debates and did important things together - everything good friends should do. I will always remember you, Jack, on our birthday.

I knew Jack for many years when both he and I worked for NOAA. Although it often seemed that we were at loggerheads about means of accomplishing a task, we were always seeking to improve the quality of hydrographic surveying. I will cherish the many interactions that I had with Jack. He will be missed by many in the national and international community of hydrographers.
