Joan McHugh

Joan C. McHugh, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, at the age of 81. Born in Hicksville, NY, to William and Helene Brandt, Joan was raised in the loving embrace of her family. She was predeceased by her sister, Sue Almer, and is survived by her brothers, William and Daniel Brandt.

Joan married the love of her life, John McHugh, on August 22, 1964, at St. Ignatius Church in Hicksville. Together, they raised four children: Dawn, Shawn, Patrick, and John. The family was deeply connected to their community, attending St. Gerard’s Church, where Joan was an active and devoted parishioner.

Joan was also a devoted mother-in-law to Lou Rivas and Bernardita McHugh and an adoring grandmother to Matthew, Kayla, Eric, Kate, Emily, Cat, Ali, and Josh. Her love and wisdom touched the lives of all who knew her.

A lifelong advocate for learning and service, Joan worked at the Comsewogue Library and was a dedicated volunteer at Heritage Park in Mount Sinai, where her kindness and generosity were felt by many.

Joan’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her will remember her for her warmth, unwavering support, and deep love for her family and community.

Visitation services will be held at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, located at 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776, on February 11, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Gerard Majella RC Church, 300 Terryville Road, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776, on February 12, 2026, at 10:00 am.

The committal service and interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd, Calverton, NY 11933.
