Josephine Suriano Amante

Josephine Roslyn Amante, 93, died on Friday morning May 22nd in Long Island, New York. She was the loving and devoted wife of Mario Amante who passed in February of 1999. She was also preceded in death by her first husband Leonard Marchese who passed in 1954. Josephine was born on January 4th, 1922 in New York City and was the eldest of Frank and Mary (Costa) Suriano's three children. Her granddaughter Lauren describes her kind heart as “having a perpetual light that warmed all other hearts connected to her. She had incredible strength and endless compassion.” Josephine was forever young. She is survived by her three children Len Marchese, Ben Amante, Greg Amante; her grandchildren Christina Marchese, Lauren Amante, Alex Amante, Peri Amante, Soo Cho, Young Cho and Lenny Marchese; great grandchild Josephine Marchese; and her siblings John Suriano, Cathlene Simone and cousin Ann Forestieri. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 25th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY. The Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, May 26, at 9:45 am at St. Gerard Majella R.C. Church, Port Jefferson Station, NY. Interment to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Pinelawn, New York.
