Judy, a beloved wife, daughter, sister, godmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024 with her husband by her side. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and boundless love and giving that will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Born March 8, 1949, Judy's life was a testament to the beauty of simplicity and the joy found in the everyday moments. Her passions were as varied as they were abundant. Judy found solace and delight in the art of crocheting, sewing, and crafting, pouring her heart and soul into each piece she created. Her hands were gifted with the ability to weave magic into every stitch and thread, leaving behind a tapestry of memories for her loved ones to hold dear.
In the kitchen, Judy was a culinary maestro. Cooking was not just a task but a form of expression for her. However, it was her baking that truly captured the hearts of all who tasted her creations. Her Christmas cookies were legendary, eagerly anticipated by family and friends alike each holiday season. The love she infused into her baking was palpable, leaving a sweet imprint on every heart and palate.
One of Judy's favorite hobbies was shopping. She had a passion for giving to family and friends which also included the St. Gerard Majella RC Church Thrift shop.
But perhaps the greatest masterpiece of Judy's life was her enduring love story with her husband Frank. High School sweethearts, they embarked on a journey of love and companionship that spanned six decades. Their bond was a testament to the power of unwavering devotion and mutual respect. Together, they weathered life's storms and celebrated its joys, creating a lifetime of precious memories that will forever be cherished.
In honoring Judy's memory, let us carry forward the lessons she imparted through her life—lessons of love, compassion, and the beauty of simple pleasures. Though she may be gone, her legacy will continue to shine brightly, a beacon of hope and inspiration for generations to come.
Judy is survived by her loving husband Frank, her brothers and sisters-in-law; Frank & Jeanne Ortega, John Ortega & Dawn Stancavage and Paul & Melissa Ortega, her goddaughter, Puchy, her nieces and nephews; Christopher & Pamela Ortega, Noelle & Josh Chadwick and Emily Stancavage and her great nieces and nephews; Genoveva Ortega, Oscar Ortega, Lilly Grace Chadwick and Luke Chadwick and a host of relatives and friends who will forever hold her dear in their hearts. She is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco & Genoveva Ortega.
A celebration of Judy's life will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 10 AM at St. Gerard Majella RC Church, 300 Terryville Road, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd., Calverton, NY 11933.
