Karen was the beloved wife of Gerald, sharing 61 years of marriage and a remarkable 70 years together. Their lifelong partnership was a testament to enduring love, companionship, and devotion.
She was a devoted and loving mother to Jerry Busse (Malgosia), Mike Busse (Loretta), and Kris Busse. Karen’s family was the center of her world, and she took great pride and joy in caring for her husband and sons.
Karen was known for her warmth, generosity, and exceptional cooking. Her lasagna and sauerbraten were family favorites and will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of sitting at her table.
For many years, Karen worked as a teacher’s aide in the Three Village School District. She made a lasting impact in the lives of the students she supported, especially Megan, a blind student whom Karen lovingly assisted for ten years—from kindergarten through her transition to college. Her patience, kindness, and dedication left an enduring legacy.
Karen and Gerald cherished their annual trips to their timeshare in Cocoa Beach, Florida, beginning in 2004. Though they were unable to travel in recent years, those memories remained close to their hearts.
Above all, Karen will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her nurturing spirit, and the quiet strength she brought to those around her.
A celebration of Karen’s life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776.
