Martin John Morris

Born on September 1, 1946, in Manhattan, New York, Martin was the proud first-generation American son of an Irish father from County Cork and an English mother. He carried his heritage with great pride throughout his life.

Martin was the beloved husband of nearly 51 years to his devoted wife, Frances, with whom he built a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together they shared a passion for travel and adventure, exploring the world on many cruises and visiting destinations including Italy, Greece, Ireland, Spain, Puerto Rico, Australia, England, Tahiti, the Netherlands, Hawaii, and France. Their journeys reflected their love of experiencing new places together.

Above all else, Martin was a devoted family man. He was the loving father of Dawn Stewart (Richard), Cynthia Mullery (Scott), Christopher Morris (Stacey), and Jennifer Wiggins (Eric). He was a cherished and proud grandfather to Ryan (Lauren), Tyler, Connor, Eric (Keeghan), Erin, Madison, James, Christopher Jr., and Kailey. He was also the adored great-grandfather of Greyson and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of another great-grandchild. Martin is also survived by two of his four siblings, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Martin was a lifelong learner who placed great value on education. Through dedication and perseverance, he earned three master's degrees, an accomplishment of which he was very proud and one that reflected his commitment to personal growth and excellence.

Martin proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. A decorated veteran, he was awarded a Purple Heart along with several other military honors in recognition of his courage, sacrifice, and dedicated service to his nation.

Martin found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved a competitive game of chess or cards, enjoyed collecting and sharing fine red wines, and never passed up the opportunity to savor a Guinness.

Martin's legacy is one of unwavering love for his family, selfless service to his country, and a life filled with adventure, loyalty, and pride in his heritage. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 4-8 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776.

The interment of his ashes will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 11 AM at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton, NY 11933.
