Born on November 20, 1949, in Patchogue, New York, Michael lived a life defined by his love of family, education, music, and the outdoors.
He was the beloved husband of Jill and a devoted father to Amy Druhm, Connor Druhm (Paige), and Michael D. Druhm Jr. Michael was the proud and adoring grandfather of Sage and Faye, who brought him immense joy. He was the cherished brother of Kris Druhm (Shannon) and the late Charles Druhm, who is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Seltz.
Michael dedicated 35 years of his life to teaching, inspiring generations of students with his knowledge of science, patience, and kindness. Beyond the classroom, he embraced every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A lifelong lover of the water, he and two friends owned a windsurfing and ski business during the 1970s, sharing their passion for adventure with others.
Whether kayaking, fishing, windsurfing, or riding his beloved Kick-bike along the rail trails, Michael found happiness in staying active and surrounded by nature. One of his favorite family traditions was the annual camping trip to the Delaware Water Gap, where he and his children spent countless hours kayaking together, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Michael also possessed a deep love of music. He especially enjoyed playing Celtic whistles, and some of his most treasured moments were performing duets with his daughter Amy, who accompanied him on the violin. Their music reflected the special bond they shared.
Above all, Michael will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his gentle heart, his dedication to his family and students, and his ability to find joy in life's simple pleasures. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and in the beautiful memories shared by those who loved him.
