Mrs. Cobb was my second grade teacher at Clinton Avenue Elementary in 2004 and left an indelible impression on my life. I was just thinking of her and the wonderful end-of-year party she hosted for her students at her beautiful home this morning and was hoping to reconnect with her. What a remarkable woman who made such an impact on so many lives. I am so lucky to have known her. May her memory be a blessing.

It’s the fourth Christmas without our beloved Nancy. I think of her all the time, and constantly remember some of the words of wisdom and life tips that she tactfully shared with me! The beautiful book her son Jeff wrote, sits  next to my fireplace where I see it every day and sometimes pick it up to read passages. My friends, and I speak of her fondly, when things arise that remind us of her and her picture sits in my kitchen, where I have my coffee every day. She will always be my inspiration to strive to be a better person. I am sure there are many others who miss her as much as I do!

Mrs Cobb was my teacher 30 plus years ago and I still remember her. I wasn’t the best student in my early years but I remember her always being nice to me. Never a memory of her losing her temper or yelling at anyone, which I can’t say for many of my other teachers along the way. It’s a tough profession and she was great at it. I still remember her and always will. I’m sure I’m one of a great many former students who feel the same. Thank you Mrs. Cobb. 

Oh my goodness. I am stunned to hear of Nancy’s death. Although we haven’t seen each other in person for quite a few years now, I look forward to speaking with her on our phone calls and always enjoy hearing her laughter. She was a remarkable person and loved her family  dearly!  A  woman of substance is how I would describe her best. She will certainly be missed. Sending our love and condolences to your family. As a tennis lover, you knew when Nancy was playing it would be a good game in all ways — fun, fair and challenging — but laughter came first.
Nancy’s giving spirit was shown in her parties where all were welcome and felt comfortable.
Even the message on her phone answering machine expressed a lovely, bright and cheerful welcome.  I liked it when she wasn’t home, so I could hear it.
Sincere condolences to Nancy’s family.  I know she’ll be sorely missed.

I’m still trying to get over the shock of losing my dear friend Nancy. We taught together for many years at Clinton Avenue, she in second grade and I in third.  No one loved their students more than Nancy did, and they all loved her back just as much! She took hundreds of photographs of them as they did all of the creative and wonderful things she’d planned for them each day. She made every child feel special! The council of PTAs awarded Nancy the rare “Lifetime Membership” for her dedication to her students and education!  For years Nancy volunteered to be the sunshine person for our building; planning parties, organizing collections for people and buying gifts. It was a fitting name for a person who brought sunshine wherever she went.
     After we both retired, we would get together to do fun things like walking around botanical gardens, going to shows and museums, visiting friends, taking the train into Manhattan, and going on vacations to her beloved Paradise Island in the Bahamas. If it smacked of fun, you could always count Nancy in! She was a shining example of the kind of friend everyone wishes they had. Nancy had all of the qualities that everyone looks for in a friend. She was kind, honest, caring, and a good listener. She had morals, values, principles, ethics, character and integrity. Nancy was easy-going and intelligent as well as being beautiful!! There was no downside to Nancy. Though I wish I had told her, she was in some ways my role model and a good influence on me.  I will miss her more than words can say. She had such joie de vivre and I know that the joy in MY life will be diminished greatly by her passing!

Never in a million years would I be thinking I would write this message. We lost a beautiful soul last week who I called my
Dolly dear. This lady had such a bright, bubbly, loving, amazing personality that so many adored and admired. She had so many friends who supported her and sons who cherished her and grandkids who loved her so much. This lady has been my best friend from the moment I could crawl. I will miss the days we would be laughing until we cried, danced till we got tired, and sang until our voices hurt! You were such a light in my life Dolly and lit up a whole room by walking in it. You never settled for something other than what you were worth, which is something out of this world. No one can compare to you Dolly. You were the bubbliest, happiest, always enthusiastic and optimistic on every little thing. Yes we did have our moments, but who doesn’t right? Overall, you were my best friend and my role model who taught me little things some people Wouldn’t think twice about. This Christmas is not gonna be nearly the same, but I’m gonna make sure I hear you singing Christmas songs with me. It’s going to be tough for a little bit because I selfishly wasn’t ready to have you leave just yet, I thought we had more to see and do together. From all the cooking lessons, our NYC trips, our Christmas painting sessions with your friends, and our coffee runs to just sit, talk, and reflect on life are memories I will cherish for a lifetime. I love you forever and always and I hope you know we will be together again someday! Keep laughing, singing, and smiling for me pretty lady! I love you Dolly.

Nancy was a beautiful person and exemplary educator. I had the pleasure of being her principal at Clinton and Nancy came back to us as a much welcomed substute during her retirement. She was a dedicated,  kind, elegant, and wonderful lady. I will miss her brilliant smile, encouraging chats and lemon cookies.

I grew up on Barbara Avenue and Mrs. Cobb was my neighbor from the time I was 3 till 17. I can remember spending time with her when I was little and she would dote on me and treated me like the daughter she never had. She took me to NYC once to visit her mom and we went to Rockefeller Center to see the skaters.  I can remember Halloween parties at her house for all us kids and I actually have video of the neighborhood kids putting on a play in her yard. So many fabulous memories of a wonderful, loving, strong, independent woman who truly cared about others and enjoyed making people’s lives better.   Jeff and Ken - thinking of you guys.   The picture is my mom and Mrs. Cobb when she offered to have the rehearsal dinner for my brother’s wedding at her home because my parents lived in Florida.  And it was wonderful. 

Mrs. Cobb was a loving, talented, devoted teacher.  When my daughter was in 3rd grade,  she  cut her chin while on a school trip at Frost Valley.  Mrs. Cobb called me at 11:30pm from the hospital to notify me that stitches were required. She gave my daughter the loving support she needed, holding her hand, calming her and me as well.
