William R. Berchoff of Mount Sinai, New York, passed away on February 18, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on December 2, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, William built a life grounded in dedication to his family, quiet strength, and practical wisdom.
William was the beloved husband of 51 years to his devoted wife, Georga. Together they created a home filled with love, loyalty, and steadfast support. He was a loving father to Jason (Meredith) and Amanda Behrens (William), and a cherished grandfather to Jacob Berchoff and Emily and Ethan Behrens. William had a knack for tinkering and fixing things. He expressed his love more through actions than words — always ready to lend a hand, offer practical advice, or quietly step in to solve a problem. Though he was not one to openly display his emotions, those who knew him understood the depth of his care and commitment.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, his hardworking nature, and the countless ways he showed up for the people he loved.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Closing words by the funeral director will take place at 12:00 noon, with interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd., Calverton, NY 11933.
