                                  I have never met you. I did spend time in college with Bill. It has been 42 years since I've seen Bill but past memories are very strong. I knew Bill as a wonderful guy generous beyond words. He is missed by all that knew him. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

My friendship with Bill goes back to when we were 5 years old. We were in elementary school and on together. We shared apartments and many adventures together. I am hoping that one day I can have the opportunity to tell you about some of them. Although many of those experiences were not something that we would have done as adults, they did serve as learning experiences about how important honesty and integrity really is. That describes your dad and your husband Lisa. Honesty and integrity! Bill always stood up for what was right. I always stood up right next to him. We fought some incredible battles, got some lumps, but always laughed about it later. I will miss my dear friend. But I know that his values will sustain through all of you. That is the best legacy that I know of. God Bless all of you.

There are very few people that truly rise above and stand out in this world.  It is even that more difficult when that person is as humble, gracious and kind as you! My family has been truly blessed to have known you and the wonderful family that Lisa and you created. True heroes are those that put the well being of others before their own. Your kindness,grace and love and respect for your family and everyone you touched will carry on through everyone who was fortunate enough to have known you! It was truly an honor to have known you! I am so deeply sorry for your loss.  Bill's integrity, character and strong moral compass set a wonderful example for the countless people who were fortunate enough to have known and worked with him throughout his career.  We are all better people, and better professionals having witnessed his devotion to his family and his clients.  Bill defined what is expected of a gentleman and treated everyone with dignity and respect.  I never met anyone quite like Bill and probably never will.  I am so fortunate to have worked with him, learned from him; and am proud he considered me a friend, We will never forget the example he set for us all.

Dear Lisa and all the Flanagan Family near and far:
 
My heart is breaking upon learning of Bill's sudden passing on Sunday.  He was a wonderful man and I have very fond memories of the times we all shared at Smith Barney back in the "old days".  

Please know my thoughts and prayers are with one and all.  He was a special man and will hold a special place in my heart forever.  Love to all - may you find peace knowing that he is surrounded by love in a way the surpasses all understanding.

My brother Erik and I are still in shock. It's so unfathomable that we saw you Friday night and you are gone on Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lisa and the kids. They are also with his whole family and all his friends. He touched so many lives. Giants games will not be the same. Nor will the days on the course that my dad will have in the future. To say that I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news of Bill's passing is an understatement. When I came into work this morning, and saw his darkened office, I felt a tremendous void. As the day progressed I couldn't help but think about my friend, and the memories we shared over the years. There are many words that one could use to decribe this special man, but I will use just one, classy. Bill's presence and quiet demeaner changed a room. Whether on the golf course, or at dinner, or out sailing you just loved being with him. 

To Lisa, Erin, Colin and Ryan, Our hearts go out to you, as does our prayers.  Carol and I offer our deepest condolances to you all and look forward to being with you during this difficult time.
