William P. Popielaski

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of William P. Popielaski of Port Jefferson Station, NY, who passed away on March 5, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on December 18, 1941, in Bellmore, NY, Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Bill shared 58 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joan, building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was a dedicated and loving father to Bill Jr. (Ann), Jennifer Chetuck (Peter), Michael (Jodi), Erin Popielaski, and Tricia Popielaski. His greatest joy was being “Poppy” to his treasured grandchildren, Alexandra Taylor (Brooks Jr.), Caroline, Christian, Will, Kyla, Luke, and Jack Popielaski, and he took immense pride in being a great-grandfather to Brooks III. Bill is also survived by his dear sisters, Elizabeth Popielaski and Carol Dunn (Bill).

Above all, Bill’s greatest happiness came from spending time with his family. He savored every moment with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, always offering love, guidance, and a warm presence.

A passionate sports fan, Bill rarely missed a New York Yankees or New York Giants game, cheering on his favorite teams with enthusiasm. He also had a deep appreciation for classic cars, often spending time tinkering with his old truck. A true homebody at heart, Bill found comfort in the simple joys of life—relaxing at home, watching TV, and taking in the beauty of nature.

Family and friends are invited to honor Bill’s life at a visitation on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at St. Gerard Majella RC Church, 300 Terryville Road, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. Cremation will be private.

Bill’s legacy of love, family, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
