Anton (Tony) Haschke Jr., 75, of Port Lavaca passed away January 4, 2024. He was born December 27, 1948 in Victoria to Anton Sr. and Christine Zandonatti Haschke. Tony graduated from the University of Houston in Houston as a Mechanical Engineer. He retired after having worked at Union Carbide, Dow Chemical and Testengeer with over 30 years of service. He served in the United States Army National Guard and was member of the First Presbyterian Church. Tony enjoyed fixing things and taking care of his church and others. He served his church as an elder, treasurer and repairman for many years. He was a fierce domino and card player and enjoyed his time at the family beach house in Powderhorn Lake. He loved fishing, but spent most of the time fixing lines for his grandkids. Tony and Carol traveled extensively throughout the United States. His most memorable times were driving between Port Lavaca, Conroe, Huntsville and San Antonio following his grandkids in all of their activities. There were also the numerous trips for out of state competitions in baseball and softball. Tony will be remembered as a gentle, kind, hardworking, family-oriented Christian who lived a fulfilled life of love and good deeds for others. He will be truly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Haschke; children, April Clark, Kelly Grantland (Robert), and Heath Marek (Megan); sisters, Beverly Martin (Jim), Brenda Foil; brothers, Joe Haschke, Kenneth Haschke; and grandchildren, James Grantland, Keri Grantland, Riley Marek, Tyler Clark, Dakota Marek, and Malynn Marek.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Port Lavaca. Burial will follow at Six Mile Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Heath Marek, Robert Grantland, James Wood, James Grantland, Ryan Crawford and Tyler Clark. Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Haschke, Kenneth Haschke, Jim Martin and Tony’s nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Port Lavaca.
