Antonio Rios Guzman

Antonio Rios Guzman, 101 of Port Lavaca passed away March 30, 2012. He was born June 13, 1910 in Mexico to the late Edwardo and San Juanita Rios Guzman. Mr. Guzman served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from ALCOA after many years of service and was a member of Our Lady of The Gulf Catholic Church. Mr. Guzman was very active with his church and was a member of St. Vincent De Paul, the Spanish Church Choir, Knights of Columbus and as a Eucharistic Minister.

He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Jovita Martinez Guzman; daughter, Rebecca Loum of Victoria; sons, Antonio N. Guzman of Richmond, Virginia, Maxi Guzman of Cincinatti, Ohio and Robert L. Guzman of LaPorte, Texas; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Edwardo Guzman and Jesus Guzman both of Denver, Colorado.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Slava; brothers, Alfonso Guzman, Jose Guzman, Eliseo Guzman and one grandchild.

A time of visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at the Richardson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, at Our Lady of The Gulf Catholic Church. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard will follow at the Port Lavaca Cemetery.
