Charles A. Husak

Charles Albert Husak, 93, of Port Lavaca, passed away February 26, 2019. He was born April 6, 1925 in Louise, Texas to the late Jerry and Maria Husak of Czechoslovakia. Charlie was raised in Olivia, Texas along with his 8 brothers and sisters. He served in the US Army during World War II where he operated the USAT Chromite. Charlie loved to play his mandolin, collect Karankawa arrowheads, carve Texas History items and teach this knowledge to the students of Calhoun County. He was a member of the VFW and Historical Commission. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Barbara Jean; his children: Dorothy Maria (James Parker), Charles Albert Jr. (Audrey), Nancy Darleen (Ken Dorries), James Allen (Marilyn), Leonard Bryan (Mary), Teena Yvonne (Walt Still), and Sherry Ann Husak. Step children: Thomas Allen Newton (Monica), Julie Beth (Steve Fox) and Bonnie Belle Weaver, Thomas Edward Krauser (Marie), Susan Elaine (Ron McNelly), Jimmy Don and Douglas Wayne Krauser, Carol Lynn Krauser, Curtis Leon Krauser (Janice), Troy Ryan and Kenneth Neal Krauser and Melody Jean (Mark Sticklin), many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, and siblings, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice Lou (Truelove); second wife, Betty Jane (Wilson); step-son, Richard Alan Krauser and grandson, Romulo (Trey) Mesa. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Shan Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens with military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun Clunty Veterans Joint Honor Guard. Pallbearers are James Parker, Travis Smith, Tyrone Husak, Heath Dorries, Joshua Wittkohl and Nicholas Stricklin. Honorary Pallbearers are Kenneth Dorries, Walter Still and the Calhoun County Historical Commission. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at
