Chris G. Rodrigue
August 7, 1955 – February 23, 2021
Chris G. Rodrigue, 65, of Port O’Connor passed away February 23, 2021. He was born August 7, 1955 in Thibodaux, Louisiana to Lovince and Beulah Rodrigue. Chris never met a stranger, he greeted everyone he met with a smile and kindness. Those closest to him know how much he loved to meet people and listen to their story, which is why he excelled as a Nursing Home Administrator for 30 years. He was able to retire to Port O Connor Texas where he was able to enjoy all his favorite past times. Chris never turned down the chance to be on the water fishing, especially with his best friends, his son and brother. He only ever fully paid attention to the TV if the Dallas Cowboys or LSU football were on. Even after he was diagnosed with ALS, Chris refused to let that dim his sunny disposition and remained strong in his faith and spent every Sunday listening to Joel Olsteen. Chris made it a point challenge himself on how many steps he could get while he was still able, using his walks as a chance to talk to anyone and everyone. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Rebecca; daughter, Kaye Alvarez (Jesse); son and best friend, Ben Rodrigue (Sharon); step-daughter, Cassie Tate (Sean); step-sons, Nicholas, Matthew, and Mack Herrera; brother and best friend, John Rodrigue (Laura); grandchildren, Chelsea Hurlbut, Dylan Rodrigue, Darren Rodrigue; great-grandchild, Aubrielle Yzaguirre; and step-grandchildren, Ellie and Olivia Tate. He was preceded in death by his parents. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ALS, Texas Chapter, 2301 W. Anderson Lane, Austin, TX 78757. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.richardsoncolonial.com.

My memories of Chris are just what an absolutely awesome & wonderful person he was! He had an ability that if you talked with Chris for 5 minutes, you felt comfortable like you had known him forever. He always made you feel welcome and part of his family! Because he truly cared about you. Just an absolute awesome person, I loved listening to his stories & listening to him telling how the fish were biting. Chris loved to fish, and there was nothing better than fishing with Chris! I'd brag all year at work about all the big fish I saw Chris catch, and I know Chris always got a chuckle hearing that. I am so very appreciative that Chris is part of our family. And everybody in my family loves Chris! Especially...his wife, my sister, Becky. Thank you Chris for the awesome person you are to Becky and the way you treated everyone! And I know you are wading & casting into some nervous water where the fish are biting up in Heaven! Thank you so much Chris..my family & I all love you! Will

Chris had come to Houston to interview for a job with Brown and Root in mid 1970's and stayed with my parents and myself in Pasadena. He would not share the other half of my bed that night. Did not want to inconvenience anybody. I insisted but he was adamant about it. He slept on the floor with quilts. I had not thought of this in years, A True Gentleman!!!

I first met Chris in 2004 while he was administrator at SE Nursing and Rehab. I worked for him for 4 years there. In 2004 I followed him to Floresville Nursing and Rehab. He was the best administrator I ever had in the 20 years plus I had in the nursing home business. God took a wonderful person in Heaven. There all going to be laughing at his jokes. But I don’t think God will like when he says have a drink it will cure everything.

Chris stood by me and supported me through my first annual full book survey. When we ended each day he made sure to tell each of us what a wonderful job we had done and to go home and “have a drink”, I told him I sure do a bottle of wine right now! He told me drink it up girl,LOL. He was such a wonderful person and made an impact on my life with his positive attitude and generosity towards others. He will be truly missed.❤️
